Releases
Versions are semantic: a minor bump is a new capability or a wave of rules coverage, a patch is fixes and polish. The 0.x means the rules model is still growing.

The v3.6 open beta
OPR's v3.6 open beta now sits beside the published rules: one switch in the header swaps every army, every points cost and the whole combat sequence to the new edition. The beta armies are a snapshot from September 2026 and OPR is still moving points around, so read those numbers as provisional.
- newRules edition switch in the header: "3.5" for the published game, "3.6 beta" for the open beta. Each edition keeps its own armies, its own prices and its own saved matchup and pins, so you can flip between them without losing your place.
- newEvery v3.6 open-beta army book, with the re-worked and re-named weapons, the re-scaled points, and the Spell Amplifier upgrade (+1 to cast) for casters.
- newUnder 3.6 the fight is worked out the 3.6 way: Assault weapons count as both shooting and melee, Impact hits land before either side strikes, Counter no longer soaks Impact (Brace does, in fantasy), Parry is a 6+ save against melee wounds, being fatigued switches off effects that trigger on 6s, Indirect fires without a penalty for having moved, aircraft are harder to hit (-1), and a fantasy Sergeant adds AP(+1).
- newTwo new context switches for the 3.6 rules that care about who has gone already: "Target already activated" and "Defender already activated". Entrenched and Artillery now ask for over 12" instead of over 9", and the range switch stands in for that.
- newSkirmish-scale beta armies (Firefight and Age of Fantasy: Skirmish) are their own separate armies in the beta, with tripled Tough, doubled attacks and 600 / 800 pt standard games. Age of Fantasy: Regiments has its own beta wording as well.
- improvedA BETA marker sits beside the edition switch and on the beta armies, so a provisional number is never mistaken for the published rules.
- dataBeta weapon re-work throughout: hybrid weapons handled by Assault, vehicles trading Impact for an Overrun melee attack with Thrust, aircraft weapon ranges halved, and "all models" upgrades now reading "most models".
- dataBeta units carry the same tags, tooltips and finder filters as the published edition, so the role, archetype, defense and mobility pills work on both sides of the switch.
- v0.6.0Sep 21, 2026
Unit tags, the finder, and a guide
Every unit now carries an interpretation you can filter on: what it is for, how it ranks in its book, what it is as a target, and how it moves. Plus a guide that explains all of it.
- newUnit tags: role and threat range (judged by an AI reading the unit's stats, weapons and rules), archetype, defense class and mobility (computed from the sim's own numbers). Every pill has a tooltip with the evidence behind it.
- newUnit finder: search by name or tag word, facet pills for role, archetype, defense, mobility and range. Filters narrow the dropdown; pills that would leave nothing are dimmed.
- newTags follow the loadout: archetype, defense and mobility recompute as you change upgrades; role is pre-judged for each weapon upgrade.
- newThe Guide: what the sim computes, setting up a matchup, every tag defined, how filters combine, and the caveats.
- newRelease notes and version numbers.
- fixedCombined units were doubled twice in the header total (4x base instead of 2x).
- improvedFooter links ArmyForge and OnePageRules and states the fan-tool, non-affiliation footing.
- dataEvery unit and every weapon upgrade tagged across all 109 army books.
- v0.5.0Jun 1, 2026
Applied effects on command
Any army-wide buff or debuff can be switched on deterministically to see what it is worth, and upgrade prices are finally the per-unit ones ArmyForge uses.
- newApplied effects: every army buff and debuff as a toggle, for either side, on attack or defense, with no cast roll.
- newDangerous Terrain Debuff: a curse that deals (total Tough) / 6 unsaved wounds on the enemy's next move, opt-in.
- newPanel header shows the live loadout total: base (x2 if Combined) + upgrades + attached hero.
- fixedUpgrade costs: the same option can cost differently on different units; prices now come from ArmyForge's per-unit list instead of a stale flat cost.
- fixedRule tooltips always reflect the latest army-book text.
- v0.4.0May 31, 2026
Casters, tooltips, accessibility
Spells enter the sim in both phases, rule tooltips work on touch, and the whole app meets WCAG AA.
- newCasters: damage spells as an attack weighted by the cast chance at your token count, with a token stepper.
- newCasters: buff and debuff spells, mixing the buffed and unbuffed outcome by the cast chance.
- newRule tooltips: hover popover on desktop, tap sheet on mobile; core rules fall back to a global glossary.
- improvedAccessibility pass to WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA: focus rings, target sizes, contrast on every surface.
- fixedCasters granted by a hero's upgrade (most armies) are detected; no Attach Hero when the unit is itself a hero.
- v0.3.0May 30, 2026
Deeper rules, defender heroes, dark mode
Four more waves of rule coverage, marks and markers, a defender-side hero editor, and a chart of hits alongside the wounds.
- newOpt-in Marks (toggles) and marker accumulation (steppers) for armies that stack tokens over the game.
- newRule coverage: rules granted by other rules, Heavy Impact, Storm-of-X bursts, Armor/Defense saves, wound-on-2, Ignores Cover, Self-Destruct, Retaliate, Deathstrike, Protection Feat, Bloodthirsty.
- newDefender hero: its own upgrade editor; its auras and Tough apply, and its personal Regeneration covers only its own wounds.
- newHits distribution chart next to the per-weapon table.
- newDark mode: toggle, follows the system by default, remembered.
- fixed'Replace any X' upgrades: choose how many models take them, and swaps that build on earlier swaps.
- v0.2.0May 29, 2026
The rules waves
Combined units, Counter, a defender loadout, and three waves of rules coverage so army-specific rule text is modeled, not ignored.
- newCombined Units: merge two copies of a multi-model unit (OPR rule).
- newCounter: the defender strikes first when charged, as a full melee exchange.
- newDefender loadout: upgrades feed the target's rules.
- newAuras, rules granted by items, and save re-rolls across all armies; upgrade model limits enforced.
- newMore rules: ward saves, defender AP reduction, wound-on-1, conditional AP, AP-on-6 (Destructive/Crack), Bad Shot, AP vs Tough(3)+, surge on 5-6, Ravage, 'pick one effect' rules (Versatile).
- newOpt-in one-off abilities: Breath, Surprise and Crossing Attack.
- fixedWeapon swaps and auras that weren't contributing hero and aura damage; cover now applies to shooting only.
- v0.1.0May 29, 2026
